Functional SLP Speech and Language Therapy was founded by a credentialed American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) speech-language pathologist (SLP) who is also a certified service provider for attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and autism spectrum disorder (ASD). FUNctional SLP provides services to individuals ages 1–25 years of age in New York, Connecticut, and Florida, utilizing activities of daily living and purposeful activities to support a variety of skills. This approach supports meaningful skill acquisition while promoting generalization and carryover into a variety of settings. At the conclusion of each session, there will be an opportunity to address any questions, and we encourage parent or caregiver participation when appropriate. Particular interests include fostering spoken language development; improving language comprehension; incorporating evidence-based techniques and training to support augmentative and alternative communication; integrating and supporting joint attention and attunement (emotional connectedness) with communication partners; building social communication skills; and supporting the development of executive functioning skills.
